Friday Finishes - About Bloody Time!

Well Hello There!!

You guys are awesome! All the lovely comments you are leaving for my giveaway are making me feel delicious...give yourselves an extra piece of chocolate! I will close it up on Sunday xxx

Friday for me started at 4am with Little OWB waking up......and then vomiting...everywhere!

Poor wee soss, but it did mean a day off work and sitting very still while she napped on me.....so I finally manged to put the binding on this quilt!!!!

I still love it, and I even like the backing that I let the boys choose!

She's bright baby!
I collect Chenille bedspreads and use them as quilt backs for that extra snuggle factor and to provide some weight that I feel sometimes cotton wadding lacks.

I bound it with some V&A that I've lying around for about 4 years? Quite cool spooky trees as a large piece, but just higgeldy piggeldy low volume as a binding, perfect I think.
The Plus Quilt ( my names suck ) ends up at a good wrap around size of  50 x 70.

Now this baby is HUMONGOUS! So much so that I couldn't get a decent photo of her even tho I stood on all sorts of things...I'm a midget!

It finishes up at a whopping 71' x 86" including the border.

Throw another Chenille backing on it and it's really heavy and delicious! I used two different lines of MoMo, Flutterby and Just Wing It.Both are quite hard to find now...shame

I machine bound this big girl with Leaf Vine in Cherry from Oh Deer, which you can still find bits and pieces of.

My longarmer quilter her all over in big butterflies

and little butterflies.

I'm so glad I can finally show you guys a finish or two!

Sunday Stash - #14 The One With Fabric In It

I have new fabric this week, surprise ,surprise!

I won't muck around as I went out last night to my Eldest Wee Bird's BFF's  21st and partied like it was 1999...it was not 1999 and I am not 28 anymore and Baby OWB woke up at 6am!!!!

Say no more.

So lets dive right in....Heather Ross Far Far Away..love this wee frog

Moda Into The Woods by Vanessa Goertzen for Moda...interestingly the top fabric states the colour as Ice Frappe and the other minty greens are Cypress, but they all blend together fine.

Trendsetter by Fancy Pants designs for Riley Blake...love the name Fancy Pants LOL
Anyone noticing a minty green theme going on here....

Figures by Zen Chic, in Linen and Saffron

Avant Garden by MoMo, top to bottom dots in Sage, Olive and Cerise.
I also bought it the Aloe  colourway which you'll see goes nicely with Mustang. Not minty at all but a happy mistake.

Mustang by Melody Miller from Cotton and Steel... Arrows  and Flowers.
I was trying to resist these prints and just go for the blenders, but they jumped into my cart and I'm not disappointed.

Miss Kate from Bonnie and Camille, I'm still a fan of B & C and always will because of these kind of blues, gorgeous and crisp!!

And more Low Volume just because I can't seem to get enough of these and with all the different Bees and Round Robin sewing I have been doing ( you just haven't seen any yet!!) some are being used up before they even make it to the shelf!

The top B&W print is from Carrie Bloomston's new collection Paint.
The 3 below are from Elementary by Sweetwater for Moda...I predict this will be another very succesful line for them with the mixture of LV, Text and Numbers.

Last but certainly not least is this Dr Seuss ABC panel...purely for baby OWB as we are all Dr Seuss mad around here and she's just started to get into the books...just another excuse really, but she did utter the appropriate WOW when I showed her.

I am training her well

I have also signed up for the Little Quilt Swap run by Sarah...but more on that next week...she says yawning

Linking up with Molli who's going all retro this week with Nancy Drew...I was a Famous Five kinda girl ;)

Oui Oui Monsieur - We have Boy Quilts

It's official I have some boy quilts at the ready...well quilt tops...but that's halfway to potential gifts.

This was the only boyish quilt I had, which my brother claimed when home from Korea for his first baby ( a boy) due any day now!

The pattern is from Camille Roskelley's book Sew Retro and the fabric is Sweetwaters Reunion line

Following on from this post where I showed you the craziness which is my creative side...I have another finished top that is more male gender orientated.

Do you get on a buzz and can't stop thinking about it or making it until it's purged from your system?

For me it's cross/plus blocks at the moment and I have no idea what has sparked this new obsession

This is my favourite print in this arrangement Scribble Cars in Taupe.
Quilty facts are 3" finished squares in a plus arrangement with Sand coloured background.
The finished quilt size is 48" x 60"

I'm calling this one The Hug Quilt...since I just made a Kisses Quilt
Quilty stats 40" x 53"...12" finished blocks with 1" finished sashing

Here's some outside shots...it's stopped raining! of the Hug Quilt..not flat mind you because it's a little windy and my quilt holders (moaning teenagers) are away

I tried lying it down on the grass but still not great...the colours are clearer tho

I love this print also and it would make a great matching pillowcase!...but I've cut all mine up!
YAY!
Now for quilting ideas......???

The line is Le Monsieurs by Tamara Kate for Michael Miller and also comes in the Convertible (blue & green) and Roadster ( red, blue & green) palette.

Tape measure washi tape and chocolate....I had to sit down

Done & Dusted......but wait

So I thought I better have a quick recap of this post

Sherbet Baby...new name..like?

Quilted , bound and labelled....officially finished...crossed off the WIP list

Sea Stars...cause the colours remind me of sea glass

Also quilted bound and labelled...more detailed post on Friday as I have new labels to show as well.

Officially crossed off as well....crazy times people!!

But here it is did I find some more WIPs.......the shame........
yes I did!

Bad Iphone pic...it's a Fig Tree Pattern called Sweet Sugar Swirls and once again I don't know if it needs a border or not?

On a Whim...in my defence it has batting cut and a bedspread backing chosen and it will go out to my longarmer as soon as I applique over a couple of minor holes in the backing with some paper piecing....time...when to find time...love this fabric wish I had more.
I say that a lot?

From Simplify by Camille Roskelly, still like this fabric but doesn't really go with anything in my house anymore so not high on my list to get finished

This is just a play around with hourglass blocks and some brown fabric...not my favourite but I really like this still and would make a cute baby quilt.

So am I winning....not really.....
