Happy New Year - Double Nine Patch QAL

Happy New Year My Peeps!

As per usual I never saw the NY in...had too many children over the years and I'm extremely covetous of my sleep hours, not to mention a hangover with even just one kid is heinous!!!

I have got a quilt top finished and ready to quilt for the New Year tho...yay me!
It is part of the Classic & Vintage series from The Fat Quarter Shop and is the Double 9 Patch

Since I had a lot of precut strips left over from this quilt I thought I'd go scrappy and try and use them up....which was great until I'd finished half a dozen blocks and realised that the spacer blocks were going to require 81 teeny tiny low volume squares...EACH!

SO MANY SQUARES!

I didn't want to give up and I definitely didn't want to lose the darker pink/red chain that although difficult to see ( still working on my contrast :/ ) in one block was showing up nicely in the bigger picture.

So I came up with the Puss in the Corner block and pieced it Courthouse step style, with a nine patch centre.....made too many as per usual LOL

I looove the end result

I would really like to hand quilt it and keep the vintage shabby look going but realistically I know that means vanquishing it to the hopefully I'll get it done pile....so I'm determined to get the backing sorted and do my "go to" cross hatch machine quilting on it....I think it will crinkle up beautifully with that dense quilting.

It turned out to be a bit of a labour of love with so much piecing and my scrap bin of pink/red and LV doesn't even look like it's been touched...but thats what quilting is all about hahaha

Talk soon peeps x

Done & Dusted......but wait

So I thought I better have a quick recap of this post

Sherbet Baby...new name..like?

Quilted , bound and labelled....officially finished...crossed off the WIP list

Sea Stars...cause the colours remind me of sea glass

Also quilted bound and labelled...more detailed post on Friday as I have new labels to show as well.

Officially crossed off as well....crazy times people!!

But here it is did I find some more WIPs.......the shame........
yes I did!

Bad Iphone pic...it's a Fig Tree Pattern called Sweet Sugar Swirls and once again I don't know if it needs a border or not?

On a Whim...in my defence it has batting cut and a bedspread backing chosen and it will go out to my longarmer as soon as I applique over a couple of minor holes in the backing with some paper piecing....time...when to find time...love this fabric wish I had more.
I say that a lot?

From Simplify by Camille Roskelly, still like this fabric but doesn't really go with anything in my house anymore so not high on my list to get finished

This is just a play around with hourglass blocks and some brown fabric...not my favourite but I really like this still and would make a cute baby quilt.

So am I winning....not really.....

WIP's...The Scary Truth

WIP's......how many is too many?
How many is ridiculous?
When do you admit defeat???.......NEVER!

So let's assess and see how bad it is......
Even if this isn't all of them..........LOVE this one, it even has batting and a backing, just haven't quilted it

Churning Octopus??   I need better names...
I bought more of the Tula Pink Octopus Garden to add it as a border but it didn't look right, so I think it may be finished as it is....I don't know...so now it's a WIP ...Miss C loves the octopus

Retina Burning Circles??

this one is ridiculous...I just need to applique down the last circle??!!

This Star Quilt even has wadding AND a pieced back...but not quilted

This is one of TWO Mod Times Quilts, I did not cut the focus fabric in the right orientation...grrr...clearly not thinking at all but instead used it as practice for the next one, which I have yet to photograph...

How my fish should be swimming but they are all vertically challenged and are going sideways??

Blue Amaze- A - Balls?

Oh how I love this one, from City House Quilts, the colours are amazeaballs, maybe I should move this one to the top of the finish list?

Then there is this one...I feel very "meh" about it even though I still love the fabrics....weird looks really olive in these photos

yeah....nah....go to the bottom of the list Butterfly Mess?

This Triangle Pretty?? really, is that a name?...was inspired by Ashley's quilt, if you compared the two you'd think.. "Say What" but it was more the pretty mix of floral and text and solid that caught my eye

it could jump up near the top of the list.......

Will any of these grow up to be a real quilt............what about the others that are yet to be photographed?...will any of those jump the queue to become a real quilt?.......no seriously what am I going to do with all of these??
