Honey Pot Bee - I'm The Queen!

Welcome to my turn as Queen of The Honeypot Bee!

When I said yes to my Gorgeous SB (Sparkly Boy) way back when, August seemed like an age away, but here we are and here is my choice of tutorial.

These are my three versions of what is a fantastic and highly addictive block, the only thing I've done differently is add an extra round of strips to bring it up to 12 1/2".

The other thing I highly recommend is a scant 1/4" seam

I've used a shot cotton, which as I've said before frays like a beeyatch but is oh so pretty I forgive it!
Two 1 1/2" WOF strips of each is enough for one side of each colour

For a different fabric for each pineapple a fat quarter strip is all you need

For the reverse option you only need 3 scraps at least 4" to allow for the economy HST which I enlarged then cut down to get the accurate 4 1/2' centre.

These are so much fun and a great scrap buster, I'm looking forward to using these as fillers in my Honeypot Quilt along with the others I've made.

I somehow cut off one corner in the above block?

These aren't all the available blocks as I've been a bit tardy at keeping up!!
So head over to Molli Sparkles and see all the deliciousness that is on offer.

Sunday Stash #28 - Yowzers There's A Bucket Load of Fabric!!

Hi Guy and Gals!!

No messing around!Yes I'm here and I'm blogging...YAY!

This is a New Year and it's the year of being organised and getting shit done!

Fabric has been marching through my front door quicker than I can sort and stack it in any semblance of order!

And quite frankly I'm too embarrassed to show you how much.....

So here's just a little snippet of a few cuties

Tula Pink never needs introducing and I didn't have these two....and they were on special...just sayin
Slow and Steady

One thing I'm finding with all the Bees I'm in this year and last year, is it quickly highlights any colours lacking in your stash.....reds are mine, I seem to have a few red/orange or red/pink but not alot of true reds.

So these two came home with me from Storybook Classics by Windham Fabrics

If anyone knows of where I can purchase some of this line in alternate colourways of all the ditsy prints I will probably send you any fabric you want from my stash!

Which then led to a frantic online search for more prints and that led to this lot!!

Top to bottom

All My Heart Type Print in Tomato and Dark Coral
Storybook Vacation which is on sale so I took the last of the Mint and Orange Daisy Dots....but you can get them here

And these two red prints are also from Storybook Vacation.....did I mention it's on sale here...

Sunday Stash #27 - Mummy Went Cray Cray On a Fabric Binge

Yes it's true!

I actually was fearful for the nutrition of my children and the meals they were going to have to digest if I continued my fabric fueled buying frenzy while away!

First of three stops! was to The Fabric Store, I'm in a bit of a let's make clothes for me and Little OWB phase so I was buying up large.....lets not talk anymore about it...sigh

There's two things I Attribute to this manic shopping frenzy

1. Uninterrupted trains of thought and total quiet within a 2 metre radius of one's person

2. Google Maps that responds to the search "Fabric Shop" and lists everything within a 20km radius

These lovelies are courtesy of Cushla's in Devonport. I didn't actually need anything but started playing around with fat quarters and then felt bad about leaving them behind.

They're all Kaffe bar the 2nd Spools in Orange and 3rd Dials in Neutral from the top which are from Melody Miller's line Trinket and Kimberley Kight's line Rotary Club respectively.the bottom stripe is by Michael James for Free Spirit

These were in a dinky little shop that stocked a bit of everything, perfect for some easy Summer tops for me and not expensive....phew

Then this was waiting for me at home courtesy of Quilthome Angels and a True Colours sale they had....there's just no question, these are like basic must haves in my stash!
Everyone needs a little Tula,Heather and Anna Maria in their life.

Now please someone tell me how to work and be at least an average Mum and have enough hours in the day to sew LOLOLOL

Sunday Stash #26 - No Blogging Does Not = No Fabric Buying

As the title says just because I've been absent from here does not mean I've been absent from my favourite online shops.

While there's internet I will shop!

Incidentally can anyone recommend a good online Canadian fabric shop that will ship internationally?.......our exchange rates are very friendly with each other!

OK enough hooha onto the fabric, courtesy of The Fabric Shack this week

So in the spirit of trying to be more organised now Little OWB no longer naps!!....it is a sad sad day when the babies get too old ( read absolutely refuse ) to nap.

I've tried to take a realistic look at my WIPS and see what I can/want to get done and what can stay as a WIP lolol

Boo by Cotton & Steel and the Freak Out by Michael Miller have been purchased so I can finish my Nested Churn Dash quilt....which is from 2014???!!!

Echino Ni-Co (sold out sorry ) ...because it was on sale and two modern solids by Jason Yenter in Raspberry and Apple ....both $5.98/yard...good buying and colours I seem to use alot of in my mini quilts?

I also bought some more Raspberry  from the Zen Chic Flow range, and was surprised by the cute selvedge.......seems to be a positive message theme appearing with some of the manufacturers. Great if you're collecting them for a project.

In the last year I've done quite a few baby quilts which I'll show you as soon as I get the posts sorted.....Don't hold your breath!!!...So Thicket by Gingiber for Moda appealed on two levels.
Black and White ( Also comes in an Ecru background ) which is so easy for either Gender.

And the cutest animals ever that aren't babyish at all but still adorable

The complimentary patterns to round out the panel and feature fabric are great for any stash!

Plus while I was in the minimalist modern baby mood I snapped up some Bundle Me Up which has a more creamy background, more like Kona Snow, but equally as cute.

As for this one.......I have know feckin idea why I bought it, but I'm sure it will come in handy....one day?!

Sunday Stash #25 - Sorry If I'm All Up In Your Grill

I know I know I'm like toothache....nothing for weeks and then a pounding in your face and head that you can't get away from!

I have multiple photos I need to release from my phone and to be fair I've had this fabric for weeks I just haven't had a chance to show you.

So step back from the screen cause here it comes

I didn't buy the whole line...I rarely do, but this pic is already missing this print as I've used it twice already and am waiting on more. Some are simply more versatile than others but together they look stunning.

These two are from the Passport collection by Moda, the top fabric is London and the bottom Tokyo
I thought these would bring a bit of variety to my low volume and B&W stash.

The next two were a bit of a gamble but I was pleasantly surprised, particularly with the bottom fabric. They are two from a line called Tiki Tok by Jenn Ski for Moda. There are 8 in the collection but I only bought the Stars in Ecru and the Fish Ecru Charcoal.A very Scandi feeling line along the lines of Lotta Jansdotter and her colours.

These were a few fillers that I just loved and wanted to have in the stash, top to bottom we have
Hello Bear, from Maker by AGF Make the Cut in Sharp and Make and Pin in Natural and from Sweetwater's Feed Company line the Sprout print in Black and the Feedsack print in Blue.

These prints are all from Bonnie & Camille's Daysail line a little Teal and some navy Script with a little Aqua to round it out.....I'm doing odd links as Fabric Shack's Store is temporarily down...sorry!

I don't think Zen Chic's Modern Background Paper range needs any introduction whatsoever! LOOOOOVVVEE IT!

In one of my previous lives I did 3 years of an Organic Chemistry degree so I geeked out a little over the hydrocarbon diagrams below and the Maths diagrams...but not as much LOL

I actually bought 2 yards of the cream pindot on the Ecru background as sometimes I get a little over my go to white backgrounds.

I know I've said time and again that I have more than enough cutesy girly prints but it's Mermaids and Narwhales!!...they clearly don't count I had to have some!

Say hello to Saltwater by Natalie Lymer for Riley Blake

OK take a breath you made it to the end..... that will be all Donkey.

Sunday Stash #23 - Trying To Be Good

Welcome to another Sunday Stash! I can't quite believe how quickly these roll around?

Despite what it may look like I have been relatively good with my fabric purchases, these are all about 3 weeks old...truly!!...I just haven't had a chance to log them in.

The first few bundles are from Quilt Home, lovely to deal with and always beautifully packaged with a handwritten note.

I tried to only buy colours I felt I was lacking in my stash, so lets start with Purple!

Top to Bottom Rustique by Emily Herrick, these two have sold out at Quilt Home but I found them here.
The Quilt Pirates are my absolute favourite!!!

Lime Green!! I have very little of this in my stash and needed it for pops of colour in the Possum Magic border of flying geese I did ...so top to bottom we have,

I also struggle with Dark Blue and True Red so these were perfect!
Shelburne Falls (which has since sold out but I've linked to the others on sale) Beauty Queen, Any Cup Will Do and Kaffe

These just fell in to fill up the bag, cause they're scrummy!!!
Jemma, Lovely Lattice,  Paperweight in Paprika and Yellow, and an eyeball popping Michael Miller spot in Sorbet.

I also succumbed to some Doe and Violet and was intrigued to see coordinating Kona Solids on the Doe selvedge ...very clever and convenient!!

It's Monday tomorrow so time to get ready for the working week my lovely Peeps.
Linking up with the delightful Molli whose stash is having babies??...I'm thinking this could be a logical explanation for my rapidly multiplying stash too LOL
