Week of Quilts - Day 3 I'm Doing This!

OK Day 3, here we are with a WIP that is at least 5 years old!!

I found a few half done 1/4 log cabin blocks and a big pile of randomly cut strips while shifting stuff from the downstairs garage sewing space to the new upstairs sewing room.

From memory the inspiration fabric was Backyard Baby by Patty Sloniger, a designer for Michael Miller fabrics....my helper is still struggling with the "stand still " concept of picture taking hahaha

I'm feeling pretty good about having this little pile of nothing turn into a sweet little quilt

Being of the lazy quilting type ( I'm definitely a piecer! ) I thought I'd try out this cute snake like stitch on my Elna, just as a change from my huge repetoire of....straight stitch quilting LOL

All I can say is thank F*** it was a teeny tiny quilt....it was sooooo slow

It looks super cute unwashed and dried so I'm hoping that the spa treatment will accentuate the pucker of the snake stitch....which I will never do again!

It's a sweet 36" x 45" and the mint stripe binding was a moda print from my stash, so YAY to using up what I already have.

And that's Day 3 and Wednesday hump day just about gone :) and since it's been a while that I've posted midweek Let's Bee Social with Sew Fresh Quilts.

Happy halfway through the week my Peeps!

The Dining Table Has Been Cleared - Another Top Sewn Together

WARNING PICTURE HEAVY POST FEEL FREE TO SCROLL

Firstly a disclaimer, I normally edit all pics before uploading to the blog but flash computer is having a brain fart and I don't know how to edit on this laptop so I'm just running with what I have.......the quilt holder will be mortified, but I'm pretty sure I can bet the house he wouldn't be caught dead reading my blog.....

As you can see from the sky a beautiful day but still windy so it took a few goes to get a semi decent picture....can you feel the agony that he's going through.....mwahaha...teenagers are so tortured sometimes ;)

Hahaha just for my amusement....my quilt has feet!
 Aaaah that's better
I am really in love with this quilt and I'm not sure exactly why? It just makes me smile
Couple more then we're done
It's off to the longarmer as I wanted to put a white Chenille bedspread on the back and Lady Muck probably would pack a spaz if I forced such un ladylike bulk under her.
I did say white...but...I let the boys choose the backing since they said the quilt  was "cool", high praise from the grunters, and therefore deserved a bright coloured backing.....it's bright, trust me...I'll show you when it comes back......

Finally a Bee Block Out On Time

So I finally did it, I have managed to post a Bee block for StashBee within the correct month...whew...seriously I never thought it was gonna happen!

I used to wonder how people could be late with Bee blocks when they only had to make one block....

NOW I KNOW! ...It's called life and it can really get in the way of great sewing plans

Anywho...this is March's Block  request from Anna and it is awesome to do...so much so that I have added it to my ever growing list of WIP's I urge you to check out the tutorial and have a go yourself

I highly recommend using the graph paper and working out your size then what I did was write the cutting measurements inside the spaces so you can draw and colour and figure out all in one step, then just tip your low volume scrap basket out and go for it!

Also how cute is this hat??

My wonderful friend who is also the mother of "my son from another mother" (aka 2nd son's bestie) made this for my wee girl using this tutorial ...like in one night......tada....just like that...I think crochet is her Super power....and I love it!
