Happy New Year - Double Nine Patch QAL

Happy New Year My Peeps!

As per usual I never saw the NY in...had too many children over the years and I'm extremely covetous of my sleep hours, not to mention a hangover with even just one kid is heinous!!!

I have got a quilt top finished and ready to quilt for the New Year tho...yay me!
It is part of the Classic & Vintage series from The Fat Quarter Shop and is the Double 9 Patch

Since I had a lot of precut strips left over from this quilt I thought I'd go scrappy and try and use them up....which was great until I'd finished half a dozen blocks and realised that the spacer blocks were going to require 81 teeny tiny low volume squares...EACH!

SO MANY SQUARES!

I didn't want to give up and I definitely didn't want to lose the darker pink/red chain that although difficult to see ( still working on my contrast :/ ) in one block was showing up nicely in the bigger picture.

So I came up with the Puss in the Corner block and pieced it Courthouse step style, with a nine patch centre.....made too many as per usual LOL

I looove the end result

I would really like to hand quilt it and keep the vintage shabby look going but realistically I know that means vanquishing it to the hopefully I'll get it done pile....so I'm determined to get the backing sorted and do my "go to" cross hatch machine quilting on it....I think it will crinkle up beautifully with that dense quilting.

It turned out to be a bit of a labour of love with so much piecing and my scrap bin of pink/red and LV doesn't even look like it's been touched...but thats what quilting is all about hahaha

Talk soon peeps x
